Everyone's got at least one book in them
Many professional writers become condescending and disdainful at the very notion that 'ordinary people' might have a great novel or memoir locked away somewhere in the depths of their imagination.

I happen to think, by and large, that it's true: everyone does have at least one book in them.

In fact, as a ghost writer, my experience tells me that it's true.

So, rather than turning my nose up at your literary aspirations, I'll greet them with enthusiasm and support. As far as I'm concerned, you do have a book in you, and I can help you get it out.

What does a Ghostwriter Do?

In short, I provide the words. It's your story, your characters, your themes and subtext; I simply take all this abstraction and turn it into something more concrete: words on paper.

Via email, over the telephone or in person, we'll spend a few hours discussing your project. You'll provide me with any notes, outlines and rough drafts you might have. From there, I'll be able to make an assessment of how much work is involved in creating your book. I'll provide you with a quote based on the production of a first draft and two sets of amends.

If you're happy with the quote, I'll provide you with a 1,000 word sample. This will generally be the first 1,000 words of your book.  This is provided free of charge. Why? Well, as a ghost writer, I sign a non-disclosure agreement with all my clients. This means it isn't possible for me to provide samples of previous ghost writing successes. The only convincing way of demonstrating my credentials is to show potential clients how I'll bring my skills, experience and creativity to bear on their unique literary project.

If you're happy with the sample and agree the quote, I'll provide you with a delivery schedule. This will vary depending on your requirements and the nature of the project. More often than not, a daily quota is agreed, with me delivering a certain number of words to you each working day. This daily-delivery approach enables us to quickly identify any potential issues and take rapid remedial action.

Once you're in possession of the entire first draft, we'll discuss any changes you require. Once the second draft is complete and delivered, we'll identify and carry out any further 'tweaks' and then I'll deliver the third and final draft. Job done.

How Much Do You Charge for Your Ghostwriting Services?

It varies from project to project. If you're not sure whether or not your budget is going to be sufficient, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss it in more depth.

Just as I provide a production schedule, I also provide a payment schedule:

  • 30% of quoted cost as a deposit
  • 30% of quoted cost upon delivery of first draft
  • 40% of quoted cost upon delivery of final draft

Can You Guarantee My Book Will Be Published?

Unfortunately, nobody can make that guarantee. Luck will always play a significant role in any writer's publishing fortunes. J.K. Rowling received several rejections before a young sub-editor saw something promising in her bespectacled boy protagonist.

I can only take you as far as the final draft. After that it's down to your persistence, ingenuity and, yes, luck.

If you think you have a book in you, a book with great potential, call me on 0790 661 2111 to discuss your project. I look forward to working with you.
