I know it sounds a little counterintuitive, but as a copywriter, I don't really want you to read every single word I've written.

I may have laboured over every syllable, I may have painstakingly crafted each sentence, nursed and nurtured each paragraph into existence, but I genuinely don't want you to read my copy from start to finish, first word to last.

Honestly. Cross my heart. I really don't.

Long before you get to the end, I want you to stop reading and act. I want you to do something.

Good copy, really good copy, great copy exists not for its own sake, exists not so the reader can delight in its intricate structure or infectious rhythms. The sole purpose of great copywriting is to inspire the reader to pick up the telephone or whip out their credit card or fill in that all-important email opt-in form.
